What is the NID?
Initiated by the HGNI and established by residents in 2016, the Harambee Neighborhood Improvement District (NID) assesses $50/unit per year (for up to 10 units per parcel) to the property taxes of all residential property within the NID boundaries and pools that money to fund a home repair GRANT. This grant is eligible to all property owners within the boundaries but prioritizes owner-occupants with demonstrated financial need. The goal of the program is to provide much needed home repair resources to neighbors and home repair jobs to underemployed residents. The NID is a quasi-governmental entity run by a board of elected residents and property owners.
Initial assessments have be added to property tax bills distributed at the end of 2017. If you are a property owner and there was an error with your assessment please contact Riverworks Development Corporation at 414-906-9650. If you have any other questions or problems with your tax bill please contact the City of Milwaukee Treasurer's Office at 414-286-2240 or email@example.com
